Johnny and I are into our second week of this summer’s UK tour. The weather has been perfect for this southern boy, but a bit hot and sunny for the natives.
I hiked to the top of a Cumbrian mountain and looked over the Isle of Man while Johnny sat in the shade of an English oak in the company of some very hardy looking sheep. We walked by William Wordsworth’s birthplace in the gloaming of a northern midnight. We bought stock in Marks & Spencer.
The people are lovely. The gardens are stunning. The coffee is terrible. The fuel is expensive. Driving is exciting. There are no Japanese beetles. History is ever-present.
You are our best advertisement. Please forward these dates to friends in the UK. We’ll try to bring some northern summer home.
