Sirius A, known as the Dog Star, is the brightest star in Earth's night sky, found in in ancient astronomical records of every culture on Earth. “Dog days" refers to the period in mid-summer when Sirius rises with the sun.

Sirius A is so massive that its companion star, Sirius B, is ten thousand times dimmer and yet nearly the mass of our Sun. Even though Sirius A was known to the ancients, Sirius B was hidden by its companion’s light and was only discovered in 1862.

To find Sirius, use the three stars in the belt of Orion. They point downward and to the left toward Sirius.

To find us, just point your GPS to these fine venues. Siriusly.
